The San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Taxpayer Advocate office is teaming with the Women’s Council of Realtors® San Diego on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10 am, to host a free virtual “Homeownership for Heroes” Military Families Seminar. This joint effort is part of our way to say thank you to our surviving spouses, veterans, and military families in advance of Memorial Day. The workshop will be recorded and shared industry wide on Memorial Day.

Assessor Taxpayer Advocate Jordan Marks said, “We are proud to partner with the Women’s Council of Realtors® to help the surviving spouses of our military heroes achieve homeownership this Memorial Day.” Marks continued, “The best way we can say thank you to military heroes that gave their life for our country is to take care of their surviving spouses and families with great customer service and making sure their housing is more affordable with property tax saving opportunities.” Marks concluded, “Our office has successfully reached over 12,500 San Diego County disabled veterans and surviving spouses to qualify them for a property tax exemption that has saved them over $17,500,000 annually in property taxes making their homeownership more affordable."

Rebecca Pollack-Rude, Women’s Council of Realtors® San Diego President said, “More than 240,000 veterans reside in San Diego County, making us the third-largest county populated by veterans in the United States.” Pollack-Rude continued, “In advance of Memorial Day weekend Women’s Council of Realtors® San Diego is proud to join with the San Diego County Assessor’s office to honor our heroes by taking care of their surviving spouses to show them how to use their VA benefits to build wealth and achieve homeownership in San Diego.” Pollack-Rude concluded, “I’m a proud spouse of a 26-year United States Navy veteran and personally know how important homeownership is for our families. I know the joy of being able to make San Diego our home.”
